San Saba River Nature Park features the city’s first waterworks, a birding blind, and a beautiful greenbelt perfect for walking, biking, and fishing. The walking trail is approximately 1.75 miles around the park with lookouts over the river and historical markers to stop and read. A combination history lesson, bird watching, river walking, and cool shade, San Saba River Nature Park offers visitors a serene and natural setting to explore and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.

Risien Park, named for E.E. Risien, founder of the local pecan industry, features a natural presentation of hill country landscaping. This park houses a pavilion which can be used for special occasions as well as a west end area which is the venue site for the annual Catkins Ball. The picnic area offers beautiful vistas of pristine waters and ancient pecans.
